Are you Considering having your own web site?
You have many options.
Build it yourself (saves lots of money):
- Use your own ISP personal web space and the provided authoring tools.
- Most ISPs (Internet Service Provider) offer you 10 MB personal web space. That is enough for a few pages and several pictures.
- Web page authoring tools are very good. If you can use Microsoft Word or similar software to make pages with boxes and images, you already know how to use the tools.
- Using your personal web space means you do not have to buy a Domain name for an anual fee.
- Buy web space from the countless number of hosting providers and publish your web page to them. Important: If you want a hosting provider with live tech support that you can call, it costs quite a bit more.
- Build your web pages yourself with tools of your choosing and put them on your new web site by using procedures you receive in your "welcome package" email.

Search engines are not free any more
Search engines can be very pricey. It used to be they would find you within 6 months, but that expectation is not realistic any more. The Big Search engine companies bought up the good smaller ones and are now controlling the market as they compete with each other.
- If your web site has any business flavor, they will not allow you
into databases like Yahoo and Google. You have to pay dearly
to be included in them and other big ones..
- If your web is strictly personal and educational, etc., then you
have a good chance of eventually getting in.
- Special content is required in each web page to optimize how people
find your page. The content is not required for the web to function.
